Sweet december 2014

It is hard to believe that it is already December and nearing the end of 2014. I look forward to this season year round. I start to get giddy with excitement once September arrives because it signals the beginning of the cozy fall season. Fall and winter are just magical months for me. Everything that I love happens during these seasons: cozy weather, rain, pumpkins, giant Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, quiet evenings by the fireplace, hot chocolates, the delicious scents of peppermint and cinnamon, happy reunions with friends and family, etc.

However, December is also bittersweet. This month is about celebrations, contemplations, tying loose ends, looking back to the past eleven months, embracing both the joys and quiet tears….December is also a month for saying goodbyes to the past, forgiving and sealing the memories in my heart. Goodbyes are sad. However, December also brings the promise of new hopes, new adventures and a brand new page with nothing written on it yet. It is an opportunity to write new stories of friendship, happy moments,  lessons, finding new love and holding on to the true one with all your heart.

This December is not going to be a quiet one for me. There will hardly be any quiet Sundays with a cozy mystery by the fire. It will be rushed, festive and loud. 2014 is going to be known as the Mom & Dad year, at least half of it. We are celebrating a milestone in my dad’s life this December. To put it simply, it is going to be a crazy chaotic month of plannings and celebrations – Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Dad’s birthday dinner on his actual birthday, big surprise party for dad on the day after his birthday which happens to also be the BF’s birthday. Please do not ask me about the New Year. I am currently trying to live one day at a time!

Cheers to a sweet and festive December. May it be full of warm holiday memories despite the chaos this season brings!
